I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1997, with a double major in English and History, and a certificate in creative writing. These degrees were great, but did not put me in a fulfilling profession. I had been receiving acupuncture as treatment for chronic neck and back pain that resulted from a car accident. This form of treatment was recommended to me by a chiropractor after all conventional types of therapy had failed. The results were amazing to me and gave me the inspiration to return to school to do what I had really always longed for: to take care of people. In 1999, I enrolled in the
Midwest College of Oriental Medicine to begin my education in the healing arts and attained a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine. In the fall of 2001, I was able to spend time in China, doing rounds in their hospitals and attending lectures at the
Guangzhou University. This trip helped solidify the concepts of Oriental medicine in my mind, and made me a better practitioner. I attend seminars and workshops in order to further my knowledge of alternative healing, and provide my patients with the best care possible.
